The Schroeder Area Historical Society’s eighth tour of vacation homes and cabins designed by Edwin Lundie on the North Shore is set for July 14, 2012.
This year’s tour will visit two historic sites designed by Edwin Lundie, the Olson and Kromschroeder cabins. The Kromshroeder cabin was featured on the cover of The Architecture of Edwin Lundie by Dale Mulfinger. The Olson cabin has been featured in Lake Superior Magazine as well as the Duluth News Tribune and the Detroit Free Press. In addition, the tour will visit four vacation homes situated on the Shore, several of which have been designed or remodeled by Dale Mulfinger, architect, author, and professor of architecture. In the morning, Mulfinger will be giving a talk on “Cabinology”, the art and science of designing or remodeling your cabin or vacation home.
Mulfinger’s talk is free and open to the public. The tour, an important fundraiser for the Society and the restored Cross River Heritage Center in Schroeder, will again end with the “Picnic on the ledge rock” with home made pie, music, brats and a wine/beer and beverage bar.
