Celebrating the Legendary 1926–1927 Duluth Eskimos
In 1926 Superior’s Ole Haugsrud purchased the NFL’s Kelley-Duluth team, sponsored by a local hardware store, and went about assembling a legendary squad that included future hall-of-famers Ernie Nevers, Johnny “Blood” McNally, and Walt Keisling— a group Chicago Bears coach George Halas called “the greatest football team ever put together” and NFL president Joe Carr said “saved the NFL.” That year they barnstormed the country, play 26 straight games on a 17,000-mile road trip that helped popularize professional football, only to dissolve the next year.
Celebrate Duluth’s historic team with a shirt or a mug or anything you like* featuring our trademarked recreation of the original 1926 hand-drawn Eskimo logo.
