‘Mataafa’ Cigar Box Lithograph

This week’s featured design from Zenith City Press’s line of vintage reproduction art is a digital restoration of a lithograph adorning the inside cover of a box of cigars produced by the Duluth Cigar Company ca. 1906. The Mataafa was one of dozens of vessels wrecked on Lake Superior during the great “Thanksgiving Storm” of November 1905. She split in half and sank just outside of the Duluth Ship Canal, and nine of her crew members lost their lives. (Read about the Mataaafa Storm here.)

This design is available as a print (framed or unframed on canvas, art paper, metal, acrylic, or wood), greeting cards, throw pillows, shower curtains, tote bags, coffee mugs, and puzzles. Want it on something else? Email us and we’ll see if we can make it available.
