Whaleback Steamer at Soo Locks, 1899
This week’s featured design from Zenith City Press’s line of vintage reproduction art is a reproduction and digital restoration of a photochrom print made by the Detroit Publishing Company colorized from a black-and-white photograph made in 1899 showing a whaleback steamer passing through the locks at Saulte Ste. Marie. Whalebacks were invented by Duluth’s Alexander McDougall and built in Superior, Wisconsin.
Each design is available as a print (framed or unframed on canvas, art paper, metal, acrylic, or wood), greeting cards, throw pillows, shower curtains, bath & beach towels, yoga mats, tote bags, coffee mugs, and puzzles. Want it on something else? Email us and we’ll see if we can make it available.
