Beer history tonight, Parks book release tomorrow

At tonight’s Zenith City on Tap at Glensheen I’ll be providing a sneak peek at a work in progress presenting on “Duluth’s Historic Breweries,” a preview of the work currently underway on Naturally Brewed, Naturally Better: The Historic Breweries of Duluth and Superior by myself and local beer expert Pete Clure (hoping to release at either Bockfest or Oktoberfest 2018!). This talk covers Duluth’s pioneer breweries (1859–1885) and provides an overview of the histories of Peoples Brewery, Duluth Brewing & Malt, and the Fitger Brewing Co. As always, this event is free and open to the public and beer and wine will be available. Glensheen, 3300 London Road, doors open 6:45, talk starts at 7:30.

Tomorrow night, Thursday, May 11, Zenith City Press will release Duluth’s Historic Parks: Their First 160 Years at the Lake Superior Zoo Pavilion. Authors Nancy S. Nelson and Tony Dierckins will present on the book and Mayor Emily Larson will read a proclamation on the first annual “Duluth Parks Day.” He have just 40 hardcover copies available for sale, and they will only be sold at Zenith City Press events such as the book launch. Lake Superior Zoo Pavilion, doors open 6:30, event starts 7 p.m., refreshments served.

The book will be in stores Saturday, May 12—just in time for Mother’s Day. if you can’t make it to the book launch and want a signed copy, Nancy S. Nelson and Tony Dierckins will be signing at the Bookstore@Fitger’s Saturday, May 12, from noon to 2 p.m.
