From Hotel to Bowling Alley

June's Past & Present Photograph

June’s Past & Present Photograph takes us to the “northwest” corner of Sixth Avenue West and Superior Street, c. 1907, where from 1904 to 1965 the Lenox Hotel (or Hotel Lenox if you prefer—the sign had it both ways) went from luxury lodging to Bowery flophouse. It was torn down in 1965 along with the Gateway Renewall Project. Today the corner is home to the Incline Bowling Center. You can read more about the Lenox here.
