American Fur Post at Fond du Lac 1826
This week’s featured design from Zenith City Press’s line of vintage reproduction art is a reproduction of an 1826 watercolor by James Otto Lewis showing John Jacob Astor’s American Fur Post along the banks of the St. Louis River at Fond du Lac, Minnesota (now a neighborhood in Duluth), in 1826. The scene was painted from Nekuk Island, then home to an Ojibwe village and show the fur post’s stockade, buildings, and the white canvas tents of an encampment of American soldiers there to participate in the signing of the First Treaty of Fond du Lac.
Each design is available as a print (framed or unframed on canvas, art paper, metal, acrylic, or wood), greeting cards, throw pillows, shower curtains, tote bags, coffee mugs, and puzzles. Want it on something else? Email us and we’ll see if we can make it available.
