Aerial Bridge Talk to Kick Off Twin Ports Festival of History

The third-annual Twin Ports Festival of History kicks off Wednesday, April 3, at Glensheen Historic Estate with Zenith City Press publisher Tony Dierckins presenting “Before the Lift Bridge Lifted,” which explains why and how Duluth built the most unique aerial bridge ever constructed—twice! This fun and fascinating look at Duluth’s iconic bridge explains it all, from the digging of the ship canal to the decision to build an aerial transfer bridge and the controversial battle to convert that bridge into today’s Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge.

The talk—and indeed the entire festival—is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:30, the show starts at 7, and beer and wine will be available.

This is just the first of an entire week of events and activities celebrating historic Duluth and Superior. Visit the Festival’s Facebook Page for updates on other events taking place throughout the Twin Ports.
